MECATER ENGINEERING

As part of Prony Resources’ (ex VALE) tailings storage facility KO2 project in New Caledonia, MECATER ENGINEERING has completed a 3D modelling of extreme flood events through the TSF spillway using FLO3D, a powerful CFD software allowing the simulation of complex stepped spillway geometry. The KO2 TSF is a large storage facility: 63 m high and 44 Mm3 capacity. The spillway is a major stepped structure, 70 m wide, which can accommodate around 290 m3/s flood.
